1998 GALLERON MORISOLI CABERNET
NAPA VALLEY

The Vineyard:

The celebrated Morisoli Vineyard lies in the heart of the Rutherford appellation near the Niebaum-Coppola Estate on Niebaum Lane. Fourth generation grower, Gary Morisoli and winemaker Gary Galleron have been friends and classmates since kindergarten and like their fathers before them, do business with a handshake. Gary began working with the Morisoli fruit while at Whitehall Lane Winery where he created his world-class Cabernets including the first GALLERON. The exquisite wine that Gary has created from these premier grapes brings true meaning to the words, "bottled poetry."

The Wine:

The Morisoli fruit was crushed and fermented at 88º in stainless steel vats and pressed out at dryness after 12 days. The wine was immediately racked in new French Marchive Oak barrels and aged for twenty-one months.

Big and lush, this Cabernet is a freight car full of black fruit, with a polished mouthfeel and layers upon layers of dark, rich, valley floor fruit. This is a deeply ripe Cabernet with savory notes of coffee bean and lush, black cherry, discrete yet distinguishable tannins, and a sublime finish that beats its wings against your palate . . . the essence, the purity, the symmetry of Rutherford dust.

What The Critics Say...

Reviewed in The Insiders Wine Line - Volume 4, Number 4

"The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon, Morisoli Vineyard, Napa Valley has an exotic perfumed boquet of black cherry, black plum, cassis, licorice, coffee, vanilla, violets and cocoa. The flavors of black pit fruits, blackberries, tea, underbrush spice and toasty oak are very concentrated and complex followed by a fruity, expansive finish. Rating:93 "
