The Vineyard:
The friendship
between the Wight family and the Galleron family spans three generations
and much of the winegrowing history of the Napa Valley. The Wight/Lewelling
Vineyard is located in the very heart of the St. Helena appellation. Winegrower,
Doug Wight produces outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, and the highly anticipated
1998 Wight Cabernet is a beautiful rendition of a classic Bordeaux style
wine.
The Wine:
The Wight Cabernet fruit was crushed and fermented at
88º
in stainless steel vats and pressed out at dryness after 12 days. The
wine was racked in new French Marchive Oak barrels and aged for 21
months.
This distinguished
Cabernet is nearly opaque, black-purple in color with aromas that soar
from the glass. Soft, sweet tannins and graceful waves of blackberry,
cherry and cassis flavors are carried by an exquisite mouthfeel. Elegant
and velvety enough to enjoy now, but with enough balance and structure
to go another decade or more, this classic Cabernet is soft, complex and
intense all at once with a lingering finish that embodies its finesse.
