GALLERON JAEGER MERLOT
NAPA VALLEY
The Vineyard:
Former Real Estate and Tax Attorney Bill Jaeger established
Jaeger Vineyards in 1972. A consummate winegrower and business-man, Bill
was a founding partner of Free-mark Abbey Winery in 1967, and in 1976
established Rutherford Hill. Bills foresight and passion for Merlot
inspired him to plant 277 acres in the Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley.
Gary selected his Merlot fruit from prime vineyard block 10-A.
The Wine:
Big and lush with a nose of roasted game and smoked bacon,
this wine explodes onto the palate with a freight car full of blackberries,
licorice, robust coffee bean and mocha crème. Reminiscent of a
young Bordeaux, its impeccable structure, perfect balance, soft yet penetrating
mouthfeel, makes this wine a stand-out in the Galleron portfolio. Inviting
and approachable now, the Jaeger Merlot will ultimately last 10-15 years.
