The
Vineyard:
In the summer of
1999 a soft-spoken, hard-working local gardener named Ramon Gallegos came
to Gary and asked, Will you buy my grapes? Gary said, Well,
lets take a look at your vineyard. Ramon led Gary to his home
where he discovered a meticulously tended mini-Bordeaux vineyard in Ramons
backyard. After examining the grapes Gary knew he had found a treasure.
The yield was a mere .82 of a ton.
The Wine:
A rare offering with
just 49 cases made, this wine is deep purple, nearly black in color. Rich
aromas of dark pitted fruit: black cherry, blackberry, black pepper, plums
and humidor tobacco greet the nose. The fruit is forward and bright on
the palate. The tannins are beautifully integrated creating a wine that
is impeccably structured to ensure ageability for those who can resist
the temptation to drink it now. |
